  The Tohoku Geographical Association organized Emergency Committee in response to the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake on 11 March 2011. The Association offers deepest sympathy to all affected by this disaster and wishes for early restoration and resurrection.
  The Tohoku Geographical Association setup Emergency Committee on 4 April. As an organization situated in Sendai City, at the heart of the disaster, the Association will tackle with support to those affected by the disaster, the region’s restoration and resurrection and further education in disaster mitigation through the Committee’s activity in coordination with other related academic associations.
  The Emergency Committee opened a website for information and knowledge exchange within the Association’s website. The committee requests the Association members to acknowledge the intentions of the Committee and to make use of this website for information sharing and for knowledge dissemination.

  Tohoku Geographical Association is an academic society consisting of university academics, graduates and graduate students of geography departments in the region. The association has studied regional characteristics of Tohoku and their changes at several spatial scales since its establishment of 1947.
